This article explains how Brillium administrators enable AI Services for an organization (tenant) and how assessment authors enable AI Essay Scoring for individual assessments.
AI Services must be enabled at both the organization (tenant) level and the assessment level before AI Essay Scoring is available.
Overview of the Enablement Process
Enabling AI in Brillium is a two‑step process:
1. Tenant enablement and acknowledgment
- Performed in the Brillium Administration application.
- Controls whether AI features are available to the organization.
Assessment‑level configuration
- Performed in Assessment Builder.
- Enables AI Essay Scoring for a specific assessment.
The first step, enables AI services for the Brillium account. The second step enables AI Essay scoring for the selected assessment. Both steps are required.
Step 1: Enable AI Services for Your Organization (Tenant)
Who can perform this step (roles):
- Brillium Administrator
- Organization Admin
- AI Service Administrator
Enabling the AI Services
- A Brillium Administrator enables AI Services on the Organization record. When selected, an acknowledgement is displayed and must be accepted to enable AI services.
- This action exposes the AI Properties tab in Assessment Builder
Turning AI Services on and acknowledging terms
- Contact Brillium Support and Request AI Services be added to your Brillium Account.
- Once we have added AI Services to your account:
- Navigate to Organization Settings.
- Locate the Enable AI Services toggle.
- Select the checkbox to Enable AI for your organization.
When checked (i.e. toggled on), an AI Services Acknowledgment modal appears.
AI Services Acknowledgment
- Administrators must scroll through the content and select Accept.
On acceptance
- AI Services are enabled for your account (i.e. the tenant).
- The system records:
- Who accepted the acknowledgment
- The date and time of acceptance (UTC)
- The Organization Settings page displays:
“Acknowledged by <Name> on <UTC date/time>”
Selecting this line reopens the acknowledgment content in view‑only mode.
If not accepted
- AI Services remain disabled.
- The toggle returns to Off.
- The page displays:
“AI Services disabled until acknowledged.”
Step 2: Enable AI Essay Scoring for an Assessment
Who can perform this step
- Users with the AI Assessment Author role
Availability of the AI Properties tab
The AI Properties tab appears in Assessment Builder only when:
- AI Services are enabled and acknowledged at the tenant level
- The user has the required role
If AI Services are off or not acknowledged:
- The AI Properties tab is hidden
- No AI Essay Scoring can be configured or triggered
Enabling AI Essay Scoring
- Open the assessment in Assessment Builder.
- Select the AI Properties tab.
- Enable AI Essay Scoring and configure the available options.
- Acknowledge the notification that appears
- Save the assessment.
Once enabled, AI grading will be triggered for eligible essay questions according to the assessment settings.
Disable AI Services
When AI Services are disabled by a Brillium Administrator
Immediate effects:
- The Enable AI Services toggle is hidden in Organization Settings.
- The AI Properties tab is hidden on all assessments.
- No new AI grading events are triggered.
What remains unchanged:
- Existing AI scores and feedback remain visible.
- Historical data can still be reviewed and edited based on normal permissions.
